Update on Our Migration to KORE - November 2024

The following advisory was sent to customers using Super SIM and Programmable Wireless on November 27, 2024.

You are receiving this message because you use Super SIM or Programmable Wireless.

We’ll go into more details in each section below, but a key update that you should take away from this notice is that you can now fully migrate away from using Twilio’s Console and APIs to manage your Super SIMs and we’re nearly there for Programmable Wireless SIMs. We’ve released APIs for both products at KORE that you can begin using right away to start migrating your applications. Continue using the Twilio Console to order SIM hardware for now; we’ll let you know when you can do that through KORE’s Shop.

We strongly encourage you to begin using these as soon as possible to ensure you complete any migration work ahead of the deadlines below.

Extension for Using the Twilio Console

Previously, we communicated that you would no longer be able to use the Twilio Console to manage your Super SIM and Programmable Wireless SIMs until November 1, 2024, by which time you should have transitioned to using the new consoles for each product available through the KORE Console. We’ve adjusted our timelines and now you can continue to use the Twilio Console to manage your SIMs through January 15, 2025. Continue to use the Twilio Console for ordering SIM hardware. We’ll let you know when you can begin using the KORE Shop to order SIM hardware. Learn more about migrating to KORE Console here.

New Programmable Wireless Console at KORE Coming Soon

We’re working on the remaining changes needed to release the new Programmable Wireless Console that you’ll be able to access through the KORE Console. Once available, you will be able to manage your Programmable Wireless SIMs just like you can with the Twilio Console today. We plan to make this available for you by December 20, 2024. With both Super SIM and Programmable Wireless Consoles soon available at KORE, we highly encourage you to invite your teammates and begin using these instead of the Twilio Console whenever possible going forward as you will no longer be able to use the Twilio Console after January 15, 2025. If you find any issues, please contact our support team.

Super SIM and Programmable Wireless APIs Available at KORE

All of the Super SIM and Programmable Wireless API endpoints have been recreated at KORE. Check out the API reference documentation for Super SIM and Programmable Wireless to learn more. You must migrate to KORE’s APIs by May 1, 2025, after which you will no longer be able to use the Twilio REST APIs to manage these products. We encourage you to begin the migration process as soon as possible to ensure you complete it well ahead of time. There are some key differences between Twilio and KORE’s APIs to be aware of. Firstly, KORE’s APIs use expiring access tokens for authentication compared to Twilio’s static authentication token and API keys. Secondly, KORE does not plan to offer prebuilt SDKs similar to Twilio’s helper libraries nor will there be a replacement for the Twilio CLI. Instead, you can use our OpenAPI specification files to generate clients in the languages you use. Be sure to include additional time in your migration planning for these changes. We plan to publish our OpenAPI specification files for these products to our Github repository by December 6, 2024. Learn more about migrating to KORE’s APIs here.

Status Page Released

We have released our new status page where you can find information about active and past incidents and subscribe to notifications about future incidents. We are currently posting updates about incidents to both Twilio’s and KORE’s status pages to give you time to switchover. We will continue doing this until December 20, 2024, from which point we will exclusively post updates on the KORE status page. Update any process guides to check the KORE status page for issues instead of Twilio’s and set up notifications before then to get real-time information about any future incidents. Refer to this guide for more details on how to use KORE’s status page and subscribe to incident alerts.

Callbacks Cutover Completed

As of November 4, 2024, all callbacks for Super SIM and Programmable Wireless are sent through KORE’s infrastructure.

Super SIM Connection Events Available Through KORE

You can receive near real-time insights about your Super SIMs’ connectivity by receiving Connection Events through KORE’s streaming rules. If you’re using Twilio’s Event Stream to receive Connection Events and haven’t done so already, be sure to migrate to KORE’s streaming rules. Learn more about migrating to KORE’s streaming rules here. If you have any questions about anything covered in this notice, please contact our support team.
