More on Super SIM migration to KORE - March 2025
Features that will be temporarily unavailable
As part of KORE’s acquisition of Twilio’s IoT business unit, we have a limited amount of time to migrate all infrastructure to KORE’s cloud and decouple from Twilio’s systems. We must complete our separation by March 31, 2025. To achieve this critical deadline, we anticipate the following three (3) features to be temporarily unavailable after March 31, 2025. We are committed to restoring all functionality and expect to complete the remaining work by April 30, 2025. Refer to the information below to understand each feature that will be temporarily impacted and what actions you may need to take.
Bulk updates in Super SIM Console
March 17, 2025 Update — We were able to complete the necessary work to fully migrate the infrastructure for Super SIM bulk updates ahead of the March 31 deadline. You will not experience any interruptions when using this functionality. Please disregard this section of the advisory.
In the Super SIM Console, now ONLY accessible through http://supersim.korewireless.com, you have been able to update SIMs’ status and fleet in bulk after selecting SIMs individually from the list or using filters. Beginning March 31, you will temporarily be unable to do this. Among the features discussed in this section, restoring this feature is our highest priority. You can still update individual SIMs in the Super SIM Console by selecting them from the list view.
While bulk updates are unavailable, we encourage you to explore using the /Sims API if you have multiple SIMs to update, as doing so one by one in the Console is time-consuming. As an alternative, our Support team can provide assistance with updating large quantities of SIMs if needed; email support for assistance. You will need to provide them with a CSV containing the SIDs or ICCIDs of the SIMs to update and the new Fleet SID and/or status.
/ESimProfiles API
Starting March 31, the Super SIM /ESimProfiles API will be unavailable. You will temporarily be unable to order new Super SIM eSIM profiles or access information on previously ordered profiles. 5xx errors will be returned for all requests to this API. This applies to requests to both the KORE and Twilio hosted /ESimProfile API endpoints.
Any eSIM profiles that have been ordered but not yet downloaded can still be downloaded and used. However, the status of the previously created ESimProfile resources will not be updated to reflect that the profile has been downloaded and installed. We intend to resync this data once the functionality has been restored.
If your provisioning workflow includes ordering Super SIM eSIM profiles through the API, ensure that you plan for this to be temporarily unavailable. You may need to change your application to handle errors from the API or the ESimProfile resource status not being updated.
You can order eSIM profiles ahead of time to have an inventory for future use. You can generate activation codes for profiles to be claimed by any device later. Review and adjust any processes that interact with the /ESimProfiles API and retrieve necessary data ahead of time.
/SettingsUpdates API
The Super SIM /SettingsUpdates API allows you to understand what version of settings packages are installed on your SIMs, when the updates occurred, and if there are any pending over-the-air updates for your SIMs. Beginning March 31, this API endpoint will be unavailable, 5xx errors will be returned for all requests. This applies to requests to both the KORE and Twilio hosted /SettingsUpdates API endpoints.
If you use this API to monitor updates for your SIMs, you may need to change your application to handle these errors.
Over-the-air (OTA) updates that have already been staged for your SIMs before March 31, can still be downloaded; however, this may not be reflected in the resources returned from the API once it is available again. We will need to resync this data.
We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. If you have any questions, please contact your account manager or email support.
Super SIM traffic migrations and maintenance windows
We have begun migrating Super SIM connectivity traffic to our new mobile core infrastructure deployed in KORE’s cloud. You should not experience any disruptions during this process. SIMs will be migrated in batches. Ahead of each migration, we announce a maintenance window on the KORE status page. To receive updates as they happen, subscribe to the notifications.
You can find copies of all Twilio IoT acquisition advisories on the KORE Documentation Hub.
Should you have any questions or concerns, do not hesitate to reach out by opening a support case or emailing support.
